Route overview
A sedan or SUV transfer from DCA Reagan National to Georgetown covers about 5.5 miles and usually takes 15 to 35 minutes. The standard route follows the George Washington Memorial Parkway, crosses the Key Bridge, and enters Georgetown on M Street NW. DCA sits directly across the Potomac River from the city, so the distance is short but afternoon congestion on M Street can double the trip. Georgetown has no Metro station and narrow commercial blocks, which makes a prearranged car the most predictable choice for business travelers and visitors. DCA’s three terminals share a single curb loop, so curb pickups require coordination by text or phone. The Key Bridge span is just over one mile, but the approach on the Georgetown side backs up quickly. Our dispatch team is a New York-based company that arranges Washington DC service through vetted local affiliate operators.
Roads and traffic
We use the northbound GW Parkway, the Key Bridge, and M Street NW for most Georgetown addresses. The parkway runs along the river with few exits, so it moves well outside of rush periods. The Key Bridge feeds into M Street, the commercial spine of Georgetown, where traffic lights and pedestrian activity slow progress. Wisconsin Avenue and M Street converge near the center of the neighborhood, creating a persistent afternoon bottleneck. The Georgetown Waterfront Park and Washington Harbour draw heavy foot traffic on weekends, especially near Wisconsin Avenue. Weekday mornings from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and evenings from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. add 10 to 20 minutes. Late morning, mid afternoon, and late evening are typically the smoothest windows.
Pricing
Sedan transfers from DCA to Georgetown start at $160, and SUV transfers start at $160. These are point-to-point rates that include tolls, gratuity, and meet-and-greet inside the terminal. Additional stops, wait time, or late-night service may increase the fare. SUVs are useful for groups of three or four, larger luggage, or winter weather.
When to add buffer
Add 20 to 30 minutes of buffer during weekday rush, Georgetown University events, and game nights at Capital One Arena. Evening rush on M Street is brutal from about 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. If your pickup lands at 5 p.m. on a Thursday, schedule the pickup with extra time rather than hoping for clear roads. The neighborhood's cobblestone side streets can confuse rideshare drivers, so a prearranged car is more reliable.
