Route overview

A transfer from Washington DC to downtown Baltimore covers about 40 miles and usually takes 50 to 80 minutes. The route follows I-95 north or the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, then exits toward the Inner Harbor, Camden Yards, or the Baltimore Convention Center. Baltimore is northeast of DC, and I-95 is the fastest option most days. Downtown Baltimore includes the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, and the Johns Hopkins medical campus area. The Baltimore Convention Center sits at Pratt and Charles Streets, about two blocks from the Inner Harbor. Our dispatch team is a New York-based company that arranges Washington DC service through vetted local affiliate operators.

Roads and traffic

We use I-95 north for most trips, with MD-295 as an alternative when I-95 is jammed. I-95 carries heavy commuter traffic between the two cities, especially from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. northbound and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. southbound. The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel and Fort McHenry Tunnel can add tolls and occasional backups. The I-95 express toll lanes can save time but still slow near the Baltimore beltway. Midday and late evening are generally the smoothest windows. Rain or a crash on I-95 can turn the trip into 90 minutes quickly.

Pricing

Sedan transfers from DC to Baltimore start at $160, and SUV transfers start at $225. Hourly service is available from $120 per hour for multi-stop itineraries or waiting time. Rates include tolls, gratuity, and door-to-door service. SUVs are recommended for groups, luggage, or winter weather.

When to add buffer

Add 30 to 45 minutes during weekday rush, Orioles or Ravens games, and concerts at CFG Bank Arena. I-95 narrows through the city and can back up for miles after a crash. If you have a meeting or event in Baltimore, leave with extra time. The Fort McHenry Tunnel toll plaza can also create unexpected delays on weekends.
